Cell Parts and Function

  • Chromosome: Instructions for the cell; made of DNA

  • Nuclear Membrane: allows certain substances to pass between the nucleus and the rest of the cell

  • Mitochondria: provides energy -the powerhouse of the cell

  • Ribosome: makes protein

  • Nucleus: controls the cell

  • Cell Membrane: a protective outer covering that is semipermeable (only some things go through) IN- water, food, oxygen OUT- Carbon Dioxide

  • Vacuole: storage and waste disposal

  • Cytoplasm: a jelly-like substance to support cell parts; chemical reactions occur here

  • Endoplasmic Reticulum: transports materials throughout the cell

  • Golgi Body: package materials and transports

  • Lysosome: Digest
